Scott Ryan Taylor was born near Los Angeles in 1979. He grew up in Seattle, loving
film and dreaming of being a writer. He spent his high school days making short
films and failing to court attractive girls. He studied film and acting at a small,
liberal arts college and began working as a freelancer in the Seattle video scene.
During this time he swore he didn’t want to take any conventional jobs, so he supported
himself testing video games and dealing cards in between gigs.
After two years living in New York City and working as a video editor, Scott married
and moved back to Seattle. Today he works as a music video programmer and producer,
cutting interviews and features with today’s hottest music acts. He is incredible
at Guitar Hero.
COME ROCK BURLEY is Scott’s debut novel.
COME ROCK BURLEY
Sam Kirk is an American High School music nerd. He is in love with the popular Amelia
and is convinced that getting Heath Finan of UK band Midnight Celery to play a concert
in his home town of Burley will help him get the girl. Undeterred by the size of
the task, Sam writes to Heath and puts in his request. Sam is also desperate to
get a part in the school’s rock musical so he can show off some skills of his own.
All he has to do is learn how to sing and play the guitar and he’ll be all set.
But Sam isn’t the only one looking to break his routine. Heath’s band, Midnight
Celery, aren’t getting along. They have a new album coming out, but it’s been years
since they had a huge hit. Heath’s been through a divorce and he’s just met a new
girl at the local pub. She doesn’t know who he is and he’s trying to figure out
how to tell her. Heath wants to do something bold and exciting with his career -
and Sam’s letters are beginning to intrigue him.
Can Sam and Heath’s unconventional friendship really turn the rock star’s fortunes
around?
