Jamie Scallion

Jamie Scallion is a songwriter and teen fiction author. He started a rock band at school and as lead singer of a London band he has toured the world. His first novel, The Rock 'n' Roll Diaries, which follows the triumphs, disasters, laughs and loves of a teenage rock band called The RockAteers has garnered thousands of online fans and a number one Amazon ranking.

As a graduate of the National Literacy Trust's 21st Century Author Training Programme, Jamie has delivered talks and workshops to large groups of children, teachers and parents. 2016 will see Jamie launch an exciting new programme linking the benefits of reading to songwriting, which the National Literacy Trust has built around his unique skill set.

Author Talks

Jamie talks about growing up in South London and how he became a rock star and toured the world. He explains how he became a writer, his ideas and inspirations and how the Rock 'n' Roll Diaries project achieved lift off. Jamie also talks passionately about Reading for Pleasure and the great tool set it provides.

Songwriting Workshops

Jamie has unified his skills as a songwriter and author to bring a unique and exclusive package directly into your school to unleash the raw talent in your classrooms and encourage the next generation of songwriting stars. Jamie explains the basics of crafting an original song and will sing live. Jamie demonstrates how reading for pleasure and engaging with text can give would-be songwriters and artists the most powerful set of raw materials to become the lyricists of the future - Words. Jamie will take these building blocks and show your students how to write a song, maybe even perform it and have great fun on the way.
